March 31st, 2009: Breakfast and lunch

Hi guys!  Last night SF class did indeed run late.  Ohs well, no biggie.  I was a bit munchie though when I got home so after nightly chores (Walking Rocks, changing into jammies)I snacked on a bowl of yogurt and granola.

YUM!  Then I immediately headed up to bed to read for a bit.  I made the comment to Scott about how much I actually miss my 10pm and 10:30pm bedtime.  Since I’ve been getting up at 7ish in the mornings and not 6am, I’m staying up later.  And I don’t like it!  I like early bed and early rise.  It’s dark out at 6am so I can’t go run which means there’s no need for me to get up.  Now that I think about it, we don’t see daylight until 7am in the summer.  When I started running last summer I got up at 6:40am so that by the time I was done with Rocks and changed into running clothes it was finally light out, which was 7am.  It would be awesome to see sunlight earlier!

I got up at 7ish and took care of Rocks.  Then I changed and was out the door.  The plan for today was 3.5 miles, sprints, 2 miles.  That was not happening.  I was out running and felt great but my body was tired.  I did 3 miles and started sprints but my body went back down to a slower pace.  When I realized I was doing that, I tried to monitor it but my pace kept falling back down.  Deciding to listen to my body, I did 3.5 miles and headed home.  My average HR was 159 which is really low for me, typically average for a run for me is in the upper 160s.  I think I made the right call about cutting it short.  I still got a run in today and a small distance done at a quicker pace.  I can live with this.

I stretched and headed up for a shower.  It was damp cold today and I wanted to get warmed up.  After my shower, I headed downstairs to make breakfast.

Oatbran today!  I wanted something smooth and wasn’t really interested in the chewiness of oats.  Basic oatbran with the added mashed banana as they are finally at a good ripe stage.  Mix-ins were just a small spoon of dark chocolate PB and some cranberries.  Coffee to wash it all down.  I ate all my breakfast and then had a wee bit more coffee as I wrote some emails.

After breakfast, I headed out the door with Rocky for his walk.  I wanted to get it done because the skies turned cloudy and I wasn’t sure if it was going to rain or not.  It got colder and breezier as well.  Sadly April tends to be a breezy and rainy month here.  After the walk it was lunch!  We seriously need to hit the grocery store soon.  I also wasn’t looking to chew much of anything.  A salad sounded okay but the thought of balsamic dressing sort of turned my stomach.  So I passed and decided on soup and bread instead.

Amy’s tomato soup and cheesy bread.  I toasted up a sandwich thin with some cheddar to dip into the soup.  And an orange on the side for added Vit. C boost!

After lunch, I checked the mail and looky, I got a package!

7 am! Holy crap! We start getting daylight at around 4:30-ish am in the summer. Really. One of the advantages of being north. ;)
