March 27th, 2009: Breakfast and lunch

Hi guys!!  Having a fantastic but busy day today.  Last night was very indulgent!

While watching Spellbound (Hitchcock, 1945) we snacked on a new beer and some of the dark chocolate panettone.  The beer was a dark chocolate stout.  Oh goodness it was awesome!  That’s actually beer #2 that we split.  YUM!!!  But I totally paid for that indulgence because it dried my throat out like crazy.  My throat was so dry last night that it woke me up. :(  Oh well, life happens, not much I can do about it now.

So my sleep wasn’t awesome which caused me to stop and figure out what I was going to do about a run.  It was slightly cool outside and it was foggy!  I loovveeeee foggy mornings, especially if I get to be out in the fog!  I remembered how great a run made me feel on Wednesday so I changed and was out the door.

Running this morning was amazing and exactly what I needed.  Being out in the fresh air and stretching my legs was very cathartic.  It touched my very soul and helped me in so many ways.  I only did 3.5 miles even though I felt like I could have gone on, I just didn’t want to push myself too hard.  Plus I want to be able to make that 8 mile run on Sunday.

I did some quick stretches and then changed and started making breakfast.  I knew I wanted oatbran!

coffee was good though

Sadly my bananas are a little under ripe so the mix wasn’t too sweet this morning but it still did the trick.  And you’ll notice some dark chocolate PB because I’m trying to stretch the spreadable crack for as long as I can.  Some crushed walnuts and some cranberries on top.  With coffee which was glorious this morning however my oatbran was just meh.  I was a little bummed by that because I love oatbran so much.

After breakfast and some work things, I cleaned the house.  Then showered and it was time for some lunch.  New addition!

sushi

Sushi, oh my!!  Very basic shrimp tempura with brown rice.  The raw stuff is okay but I can only handle so much of that texture before I would get gaggy.  In the middle are leftover veggies from last night and some orange slices.  The sushi was good and I even ate my entire lunch with chopsticks.  I realize how impressed and amazed you are. ;)  The asparagus tasted funny so I avoided that and ate the carrots and zucchini.  I had orange slices and 6 of the rolls, the rest was passed to Scott.  Which was about 2 too many.  Ugh lunch sat so heavy in my tum afterwards.  Part of the reason is that I was going into lunch not even hungry.  It was after 2pm and I realized that I needed to eat something.  When I’m not hungry at a meal it’s easier for me to overeat because I don’t have any sort of stopping point.  I’m already not hungry so I can’t really stop eating when I’m not hungry.  So I sort of just eat what seems like would be an appropriate meal amount and that means I overeat.  Blah.

I need to start paying more attention to my body again and not my head!  My body wasn’t hungry and could have handled something lighter, my head said that wasn’t very sensible and that I should do better.  And the result is that my body pitched a fit.

My cure for overeating?  A walk and fresh air.  I leashed up Rocks and we were out the door in a flash.  Ah that helped so much!

Now I need to get back to worky and to-do list stuff.  I’m taking charge of Scott’s side business and helping him get better exposure so that’s taking up some time.  And I also found a desk!  Woot!  From Ikea, score!

Sneaking up on you lightening quick!

How did you like Spellbound? Have you seen other Hitchcock films? (please say yes ;) )

I rented His Girl Friday to watch tonight. Love that movie. :)

    • Heather, of course I’ve seen more! :D Spellbound was ok but the ending was a little anticlimactic. I liked the twist but then it was very, “So JB got released and we got married, the end!” which was odd.

Andrea, it’s by Brooklyn Brewery and it’s amazing. I’ll be doing a review on it soon!
