Hi guys! Scott and I went out to dinner tonight with some friends. We went to a new-to-us place called Hunan Lion. For those in C-bus or surrounding area, this was located on Bethel Road.
Earlier in the afternoon I had a wee snack. I knew I would not make it till 6pm without eating something. I made a plate of two prunes and 6 smoked almonds. My camera was sitting on my desk in the office so I took my eats in there for a snap. I sat down and then ate my food without getting a picture! Doh! Sorry about that. But I did have three banana chips and got a picture of that!
Love banana chips, do not love the fat of banana chips. Yuck. So I keep my nibbles of them small.
Our friends were waiting for us when we got to the restaurant. I loved the decor of this place. And even though it has no windows, it was very open and airy. Yet at the same time very cozy and relaxing. Not loud at all. Our friends ordered the bamboo shrimp for an appetizer and shared one with me!
Oh so good! This was my first time having bamboo shrimp and I’m hooked. I don’t think I could eat more than two at a time but mmmm so good!
I got veggie spring rolls to split with Scott for an appetizer. I had half of one, these things were gigantic for spring rolls! Dipped in some of the sweet and sour sauce. My entree was hunan veggies with steamed white rice.
Check out those veggies! Yum! Bless the server because he informed me that this dish is actually served with a white sauce (wha, the wha?) and asked if I would rather have a spicier brown sauce. Yes please! I loved the veggies! And even though it was a basic combo of broccoli, carrots, snow peas, bok choy and some asparagus (along with mini corn, water chestnuts, bamboo shoots, and mushrooms, none of which I eat.) it was very tasty! The menu was pretty extensive and I would have liked to have had more time to look things over but didn’t want to hold up the party too much.
I ate most of my veggies. First helping with a small scoop of rice, second helping just veg. I brought the rest home.
Scott had a hunan shrimp and scallop dish which he ordered extra extra extra spicy. I had half a scallop of his and it was yummy! Spicy but nothing I couldn’t handle.
We got our fortune cookies and I loved mine!
I have never had a fortune that said, “Fortune Cookie Reminds You…”, too funny! I kept it.
Now we’re back home and chillin’. I’m still a little hungry so I’m going to have a wee snackie while watching the tube. Catch ya later!
omg tot’s agree on the banana chips!! WHYYYY can’t we just eat bags of them?? What a nice dinner- I love fancy restaurant chinese food, not so much with the Panda express!
One of my favorite places in town. Also love China Dynasty on Lane Ave.
Yes, I was just reading an article by the guy who wrote Eat This, Not That, and he was talking about how dried fruit seems healthy but really is not.
Lawgirl, I loved China Dynasty’s crab rangoons! Very crispy and seemed also a little garlicky. So yummy! So why is dried fruit out? I know banana chips are fried which causes the high fat. But dried fruit?
haha my cousin’s fortune cookie once said “Get another fortune cookie!” your veggies look so yummy!
YUM! That place looks sooooooo good.
man that looks so good, that cookie cracks me up! Oh by the way so try the almond tea latte at Sbux, AMAZING!!!!
Those veggies look fab! My brother lives right off Bethel!
That’s one of the most relevant fortunes I’ve seen come out of a cookie
