February 26th, 2009: Dinner

Hi guys!  Part of my pampering day was not worrying about getting the dinner post up.  That and because it was after 9pm by the time we were done. :D

Scott and I hit up Big Bird (what I call our local Giant Eagle grocery store. Giant Eagle chain is a store I grew up with.  Although we never shopped there because it was the “fancy” grocery store and we were not fancy but po’. So it was ShopN’ Save for us) because we needed some stuff I can’t get at the local Meijer (pronounced My-ER, which we didn’t know when we first moved here and so we just avoided saying the name until finally we heard someone pronounce it).  They were out of Fage!  I just came to the realization how much Fage Scott has when he has yogurt and it’s a lot, so it’s best we stay stocked up.  I did get some wine though, and these!

Oh my Might Maple how I’ve searched and searched for you!  This is totally new because they didn’t have this flavor before.  And some apricot jelly, we’ll see how that goes over in yogurt.

When we got back home and got everything put away, I fed Rocks and got him taken care of.  Then I headed upstairs to take a bath with my book and this friend.

POM fizzie

A POM spritzer.  I was not lucky enough to have the POM Fairey come and visit me (none of the faireys come and visit me, actually) so I bought some myself to see what all the hubbub was about.  I noticed most people said it was really tart so that’s what I was prepared for.  I tried it straight up and loved it!  It was sweet to me with only a slight hint of tartness.  Love!  In fact I might like this even better than cranberry juice.  It’s also a little bit thicker of a juice but not syrupy, it’s awesome.  I mixed that with some mandarin selzter (hooray for selzter! I stocked up too and I’m sure the cashier thought we were crazy) and headed up for a bubble bath and defuzzing routine.

After my bath I finally had time to cut Scott’s hair.  It was crazy out of control.  I like my men to have short hair cuts, buzz cuts preferable (I even love bald! *swoon*).  I don’t like a lot of head hair on dudes, most especially long hair.  That sort of squicks me out and makes me gag a bit.  I do prefer facial hair and also body hair!  Those dudes that like to shave their chests and stuff? Also squicks me out.  Ick!  Gimme chest and bellah hair! YUM!

Ahem.  Anyways, back on point, I finally was able to cut his hair last night turning him back into my yummers.  I won’t tell you the nickname I call him when his hair starts getting out of control but I will tell you that we’ve created a character out of it complete with its own voice.  Yeah, we’re dorky like that.

While he was cleaning up, I prepped dinner.  It is Pizza Thursday of course!  My dough was being a dinkus though.  I’m not sure if it was because of the humidity and the rain or what but it just did not want to behave.  I decided to go with deep dish again.

Pizza Thursday!

Pizza Thursday!

His on the left, mine on the right.  Mine has:

  • Shredded carrot
  • Shredded zucchini
  • Chopped spinach (those three on top of sauce, under the cheese)
  • Red onion
  • Green pepper
  • Banana peppers

Scott’s has everything minus the banana peppers and add on chopped ham and mushrooms.

I started with two pieces and a glass of red.  Remember how I said my omelettes can sometimes look like Drunk Uncle Larry ™ made them?  Well my pizza decided to explode when I cut it so while Drunk Uncle Larry™ did not make my omelette, he did apparently decide to make some pizza.  I went back for a wee third slice.  We ate while watching Antiques Roadshow and I’m always amazed by how much baseball crap goes for.  Good lord.  Yet a very nice handcrafted piece of furniture from the 1700s is like worth 2 thousand bucks.  Wha the wha?!

After that we watched the Ice Worlds episode of Planet Earth and I had another glass of red with these:

Two chocolate covered pretzels.  Yum! Although while they were good I doubt I would get them again.  They have a sort of off taste to them and aren’t as good as they should be.

The Ice Worlds segment was almost a little too much for me to handle. Watching that polar bear just lay down and curl up to die was a very horrible and depressing thing to see (it’s hard for me to watch bad stuff happen to animals, it makes me really sad and upset) and I wasn’t prepared for something like that.  After that I watched 15 minutes of The Daily Show and then called it a night.  I was exhausted but stayed up because I had every intention of trying to sleep in.

Check out my arms!

My head is turned cause I’m talking to Rocky. :D  Anyway those are from SF class Wednesday night.  We did all knife work that night and those bruises are from blocking knife strikes.  My arms are a little tender. :p
