February 11th, 2009: Dinner

Hi good friends!  Today has found me quite busy with switching to a different computer and operating system, to also planning out some fabbo stuff for OHC in the future.  In fact, Scott came up with a great giveaway idea and we chatted about that for a bit.  Definitely something I will be doing at some point this year!  YaY!  I love my little site and I want it to be awesome for everyone else too. :D  While I was doing all that stuff, I had some tea.  It was a tea kind of day.

Honey vanilla white tea with a smidge of honey for sweetness.  I did some more blog stuff and and Scott was helping me get things imported over to the new machine.  And then I was playing around with Picasa.  I have to tell you that it is way better than iPhoto, which is what I was using before.  It’s different and takes some time to get used to but so far so good!  Plus I can add the nice little water mark to my pictures.  (It does have frustrating moments though.  Grrr! But I’ll figure it out.) After playing around and working for a bit, it was time to get started on b-day dinner #3!  What I originally had planned for tonight got kiboshed because I needed mushrooms which I didn’t currently have on hand.  I switched to another fave of Scott’s, and what I was going to make will get made another day (right!).  Scott came wandering into the kitchen telling me he was hungry.  I was a little munchy too so I pulled out a little plate.

We already decided that we were staying home tonight, so we were able to have a wee glass of red (and I do mean wee. Mine wasn’t even 1/4 cup).  Bottle opened because I needed it for the pasta sauce.  On the plate is swiss, parrano, and kashi veggie crackers.  I had one cube of parrano and one cracker.

Dinner was spaghetti with Italian sausage pasta sauce.  Now I did “healthify” it up just a tad.  The spaghetti was whole wheat.  Loads of veggies in the tomato sauce:

  • Onions
  • Green peppers
  • Artichokes
  • Zucchini
  • Pepperoncinis
  • Chopped spinach

I used good tomatoes too, San Marzanos!  And of course Italian sausage, hot and mild.  Which was from the WF meat case, so that’s not bad.  I did decide to live it up and do the garlic bread with butter instead of olive oil.  I had a small bowl of pasta and 1/2 a piece of garlic bread.  I feel much better now but right after dinner I felt a little bloaty from the carbs I guess.  But it settled and all is well now.

The wind has finally arrived.  We are having crazy monsoon rain and terrible gusty wind.  Our power has even been flickering and there has been thunder and lightening.  That combined with some leftover work + b-day week, we decided to stay put tonight.

I’m off to finish a few more errands and then hit the couch with my love.  Catch you tomorrow!
