February 28th, 2009: Lunch and dinner

Hi guys!  Thanks for all the responses about my running goals!  I’m still thinking about it but leaning towards just going balls in and doing them. :D

After MT today we ran to another local Big Bird to pick up some fage and they were out!  I’m starting to think it’s some sort of consipiracy.  I did pick up a few other things though so the trip wasn’t a waste.  We came back and had lunch.

I took some leftover chicken from the Mexican dish and added it to some spinach, chopped carrot, and some mixed greens.  There’s also peas and some sesame sticks added in as well.  It was good but nothing to write home about.  On the side was a bean salad I picked up at Big Bird which was really good and very sweet.  Even though it was yummy, the sweetness has me concerned on how much sugar was used.  I’ll finish up the leftovers and then probably will stick with making my own.  I’ll talk about the POM tea drink tomorrow! I only had half that bottle.

February 28th, 2009: Breakfast

Hi gang!  Last night Scott and I chilled watching some tube.  We watched Lost, Chuck, and a Planet Earth.  Chuck was the 3D episode which was so bad it wasn’t even funny.  The PE segment was Great Plains and it was horrible.  It seemed very poorly put together and totally random, not making much sense of the footage they were showing.  Weird.  While we watched TV, a honey porter was involved.

I orginally wasn’t going to show this because we all know what honey porter looks like by now, right?  And I had maybe 3 sips, the Mexican food left me feeling a little bloated and icky so carbonation wasn’t something I wanted or needed.  However, I did take a picture of it and had to post it!  You can see my love in the background wearing his plaid jammie pants and I’m assuming, laughing at some of my fantastic witty humor.  Or I guess he could have just farted.  I don’t really remember.

February 27th, 2009: Dinner

Hi guys!  We ended up ordering Mexican for dinner.  I wanted Mexican but was just too lazy to make anything.  I didn’t feel like pulling out a bunch of pots and then cleaning up afterwards.  So we ordered out!  And I tried the vegetarian fajitas.

They weren’t bad!  There was grilled:

  • Onions
  • Green peppers
  • Tomaotes
  • Yellow squash
  • Zucchini

I also had a small bit of rice and two chips from Scott’s chicken nachos dish.  My dinner was really filling!  They only gave me three tortillas for the fajitas and there were a ton of veggies.  I only had two fajitas and I added some beans to the mixture.  We shared a Sam Adam’s Black Lager which was very yum!  And of course chips and salsa!  I think I had 5 chips but am not positive.  I know it wasn’t too many as my fajitas were really filling.

I finished New Moon and am debating on whether to continue with the series or not.  I’m not sure how much of Bella I can take as I find her character very annoying.

February 27th, 2009: Breakfast and lunch

Hi guys!  It’s raining today which means no run for me.  Boo.  And sadly I think the weather is turning back to cold.  It’s colder out now than when I took Rocky out this morning and it’s super windy.  *lesigh*  I was really loving the spring like weather.

I got up this morning at 8am!  Craziness!  I took care of Rocks and came in for a light breakfast.  I wasn’t super hungry so opted for something easy.

A kashi waffle with maple PB on top along with morning coffee.  Wow that PB is sweet.  The maple didn’t hit me right away but once I tasted it that was all I could taste.  I thought the PB was just okay and am a little bummed by that because I assumed I would love it!

My loves got up and then I started going around the house cleaning.  But before that, I had a small snack.

Let the search begin!

Where are you, PB bunnies!

Where are you, PB bunnies!

When I was a kid growing up, I looked forward to Easter!  Actually a little more than I did Christmas, if we’re going to be truthful.  It wasn’t because of the candy because candy was and still is, just okay to me.  Not something I flip over usually.  It was because I had to search for my Easter basket.  My mom would turn it into a treasure hunt.  There would be little notes all over the house filled with clues and I would wander around searching for my basket.

There was always a bunny in my basket.  Now I got two bunnies, a chocolate one and a peanut butter one.  Oh yes, a peanut butter bunny.  For someone who loves peanut butter, those bunnies were tops.  And I loved them more than the chocolate bunnies.  Ever since I’ve been out on my own, I have looked for peanut butter bunnies and have come up empty.

February 26th, 2009: Dinner

Hi guys!  Part of my pampering day was not worrying about getting the dinner post up.  That and because it was after 9pm by the time we were done. :D

Scott and I hit up Big Bird (what I call our local Giant Eagle grocery store. Giant Eagle chain is a store I grew up with.  Although we never shopped there because it was the “fancy” grocery store and we were not fancy but po’. So it was ShopN’ Save for us) because we needed some stuff I can’t get at the local Meijer (pronounced My-ER, which we didn’t know when we first moved here and so we just avoided saying the name until finally we heard someone pronounce it).  They were out of Fage!  I just came to the realization how much Fage Scott has when he has yogurt and it’s a lot, so it’s best we stay stocked up.  I did get some wine though, and these!

February 26th, 2009: Breakfast and lunch

Hi guys!  So far I’m having a great day despite getting to bed too late and not sleeping all that great.  When we got back from class all I wanted was a glass of seltzer and you know we’re out.  Booo.  I had water and a snack.

love this snack!

love this snack!

Some kashi honey sesame crackers, a huge red delicious, and some PB.  I split this snack with Scott. :D  We watched a horrific Pens game and then I headed up to bed after 11pm. :tired:  My alarm went off at 6am and I shut it off and tried to go back to sleep.  I decided not to run this morning since I had a not so great sleep and instead would do some yoga later with Scott.  I laid in bed for an hour before Rocky started throwing a fit wanting to get up.  His “fits” consist of him laying in bed doing huge boxer sighs (a boxer will actually sigh and make “HMPH!” noises at you :p ) and I can only take so long of that when I’m trying to sleep.  All other times I find it adorable.

February 25th, 2009: Dinner

Hi guys!  I’m running late and I’ve got to bust this out before hitting SF class tonight.  Dinner was perfect and totally hit the spot.  Plus it was simple and quick!

I made ahi tuna steaks that I had marinating in a mix of:

  • Red wine vinegar
  • Soy sauce
  • Lime juice
  • Sea salt
  • Black pepper
  • Horseradish
  • Ground mustard
  • Ground ginger
  • Curry powder

Along side was some swiss chard sautéed up in some olive oil with a touch of red pepper flakes and chopped pepperoncinis added.  A can of diced tomatoes with garlic and a splash of chicken stock.  The “sauce” was for some whole wheat spaghetti.  Some toasted pine nuts sprinkled on top.

I love how my tuna steak is good for the heart and is shaped like a heart! :D  I ate half the heart and all of my pasta. Then I went back for another bit of pasta, mostly I wanted the chard.  YUM!  And I totally listened to my body this time too.  It wanted more green and less tuna.  Therefore I’ve got leftover tuna for lunch tomorrow.  I’m not over stuffed nor did the pasta seem to cause any bloat.  YaY!  Now for class!

February 25th, 2009: Breakfast and lunch

Hi guys!  Happy Wednesday, the week is almost over, hang in there!  You know, even though I was fast asleep by 10pm, I was still tired this morning when my alarm went off.  I got myself out of bed like a good girl though.  I got Rocks taken care of and it wasn’t nearly as cold as yesterday morning.  Good start to the day!

I wanted to make oats for breakfast but my oat pan was dirty and I didn’t feel like cleaning it first thing.  Lazy bum.  Instead I had a yogurt mess.

Coffee&Creamer to go with:

  • 2% fage
  • 1/2 TBSP of ground flax
  • Small scoop of vanilla protein powder
  • Banana nut bear naked
  • Cranberries
  • 3/4 of a small banana sliced

It was so good!  I am thinking that on days I don’t have MT in the evenings, I’ll have my yogurt for breakfast.  That way I’m sure to get my yogurt fix in.

Review: Annie’s Original BBQ Sauce

Original

Original

Last summer, Scott and I decided to cut HFCS out of our lives as much as possible.  This resulted in us realizing that a lot of our favorite products and condiments were now on the banned list and thus got tossed.  I found myself having to restock my fridge and pantry.

One thing I need on hand at all times is BBQ sauce. You just never know when you need some BBQ goodness, it can strike at any moment.  Taking the time to read labels, I realized that most sauces had HFCS in the ingredients and typically it was the second or third ingredient.  This sort of made me cranky because I thought, “If Bob is sitting at home looking to make some BBQ sauce, something tells me he doesn’t have HFCS sitting around in his cupboards and it probably isn’t the first thing he’s gonna grab to make some sauce with.”  Am I right?  Jeesh.  So why the smaller label sauces had HFCS in them boggled my mind.  I was sort of edging on a BBQ rage when I was searching for a new sauce.
