January 20th, 2009: Dinner

Hi guys!  My legs are now all defuzzed and beautiful! :D  I love getting my legs waxed.  It’s quick, not too expensive, and doesn’t really hurt.  Plus I love my defuzzer, she’s awesome.  I talked to her about running today (because she runs too) and told her about the upcoming race.  So she and her daughter might run it as well!  Hooray!  How fun would that be?!

After my app, we swung by WF quick for a couple of things.  I cleared their stock of peach Fage because I’m evil like that.  Once we got back home, I ran Rocks out for a quickie walk.  When I got back from that, Scott was on the phone with a conference call.  That took him past the time we would normally be leaving for the early MT class.  As he was talking I heard his tummy growling like crazy.  I got up and got him a peach Fage because I can’t have my husband go hungry, plus I didn’t want to listen to his bellah be angry.

January 20th, 2009: Breakfast and Lunch (Happy Inaugauration!)

Hi guys!  I made some tea last night and wanted something sort of sweet to go wtih it.  Then I remembered we had some gingerbread in the freezer so I pulled that out.

Peppermint tea and two small pieces of gingerbread.  We watched the first period of the Pens game from Friday.  I ate all of my gingerbread and then had another 1/2 of one of Scott’s pieces.  I was hungry apparently.  It was good but didn’t leave me feeling full or satisfied.  Hello empty calories!  It’s gone so I don’t have to worry about it anymore.  And I’ll stick with baked goods made with WW flour (or try to!) from now on.

At 9:30 I headed up to bed.  I’m reading book 8 in the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series.  I read for a little bit because by 10:15 I was calling lights out.  I was exhausted!  I slept like a rock too.  Only got up once in the night and tripped over the laundry basket because I was stumbling around. :p  I woke up 2 minutes before my alarm went off and wishing I could get some more sleep.  But I got up, I have things to do today!

TT: More uses for nonstick spray

Make it work for you

Make it work for you

We all have nonstick spray at home, yes?  I do and I try to get the best one I can find and one that I can easily get.  I am intrigued by the Misto but haven’t made the leap.

I have found uses for nonstick spray other than just spraying my skillet before frying an egg and thought maybe you would find them useful as well!

We all know about spraying measuring cups or measuring spoons if you are about to measure something thick and sticky, right?  If you have to measure out something like honey, molasses, or maple syrup, spraying your measuring device helps the sticky stuff slide out easily and not cling to the instrument.

You can also spray a spatula if you are scraping out a thick sticky batter or dough, the batter won’t stick to the spatula.  Or if you need to delicately slide under some fish or even a burger, spraying the spatula first helps it not stick to the food you’re flipping.

January 19th, 2009: Dinner

Well I didn’t get as much done today as I would have liked but I did get stuff done, which is the point right?  I did some more bloggy stuffs and got emails sent out.  Trying to come up with some fun stuff for the blog! ;)  After all that, it was time for me to get started on making dinner.  I haven’t gone to meal planning fully yet but have come to the conclusion that I should start having a basic plan.  Just something to go off of and refer to during the week.  My normal way of making meals was whatever I felt like at the time or if Scott had a request.  Now I would like a little more structure especially because I’m looking to have alternate days of things.  Meaning one day is meat or seafood, then the next day is a veggie day.  Or close to being a full veggie day.

January 19th, 2009: Breakfast and Lunch

Hi guys!  Umph what a rough night of sleep I had thanks to over indulging in wine.  I didn’t have a ton but enough that it affected my sleep.  I finished my first glass on the couch with my book while Scott wrapped up some work.  Then I had another wee glass which was plenty.  But it went to my head and I thought, “Oh just another small glass.”  And then cue crappy sleep.  I get hot, my heart races, my mind races, and I just have trouble staying asleep.  Early bedtime for me tonight!

I got up at 7ish this morning because Monday’s are my day “off” so I can sleep in a little bit.  I got Rocky taken care of and then I made some breakfast.  I almost made oats but changed my mind at the last minute and had yogurt and granola instead.

With morning coffee.  2% Fage, bare naked chocolate granola (trying to use it up!), and some cranberries.  So good, I love it!  And I could go for more right now. :p  Coffee was just okay.  It was a little potent but that’s just because I’m coming off a night of horrible sleep.

January 18th, 2009: Dinner

After posting earlier, I did some quick bloggy stuff and then it was out the door with Rocky for his first walk in a few days.  He was so happy to be out and walking around!  It was also still snowing pretty good at this point.  I think we might have got another 4inches or so total.  The roads are not plowed and at this point I have no idea if they will get plowed.

When we got back from the walk both Scott and I were very hungry!  I guess Sunday breakfast didn’t hold us over too well.

I had some 2% fage (more yogurt!), 1/2 a banana, and some banana nut bear naked.  It was so good!  I love yogurt and granola. :D  I did even more bloggy stuff and got some stuff straightened out regarding my email.  Meh.  Technology sometimes isn’t so hot, right?

Then I started making dinner.  We were having fish today.  I had been looking forward to it for a while because I had such a craving for fish.  But first a snack!  Tonight’s theme is “Balls IN!”  I started off with a glass of white and some baked chips (chips split between me, Rocky, and Scott).

Pita Pizzas

Just like old times

Just like old times

When I was in middle school it was the 80s.  Hair bands and mall teen pop queens were in their prime.  And the thing to do back then was hit up the skating rink on Friday night.  Especially when you lived in a super small town and there was nothing else for you to do at that age.  The skating rink was a happening place and I taught myself how to skate.  And backwards skate.  And skate going around the corners with my feet turned out, heels touching.  My favorite thing to do was skate backwards and stop with my stoppers coming to a sliding halt.  My skates were white with blue wheels and a blue stopper.  And Velcro because when you are at the skating rink, it is all about the skating and not about wasting time lacing up your skates.  Oh and secretly crushing on the boys who preferred video games until the couples skate was announced.  Eventually I out grew my Velcro skates and moved on to bigger, more “adult” skates that I did have to lace up. I figured out a way to do it quickly with flair and grace.  I was still sporting blue wheels and a blue stopper though.  And, no, never pom-poms on my skates. I preferred the smooth classic chic look.

January 18th, 2009: Breakfast and brunch

Hi guys!  I woke up last night around 5am for a potty run and I heard a snow plow outside.  Hrm.  I don’t remember any call for snow.  I really didn’t think much of it.  Maybe it was a prevenitive measure for some upcoming snow or ice.  I fell back asleep and got up for good around 7am.  Looked outside and oh my!  More snow!  Like another 3 inches or so. :o  It was still snowing too when I got up.  Awesome!

I got Rocky taken care of and then fixed myself something to eat because I was starving.  I had morning coffee and a peach fage.  In the pic is also half a spooky s’mores Z bar but I ended up not eating it. I just had the coffee and fage.  If you can find the peach fage I recommend trying it.  It’s awesome and totally filling.

Around 8am it was snowing even harder, nice big fluffy flakes and I couldn’t take it anymore being inside.  I quickly changed into running clothes and headed outside.  The weather was amazing!  Not too cold although my nose kept dripping like crazy.  The snow was a little slick even with my yaktraxs on but nothing I couldn’t handle.  It actually gave me more of a glute workout which is fine with me!  I ran on the road as it was a little more compact.

January 17th, 2009: Lunch and Dinner

Hi guys!  Sorry I didn’t get this up yesterday but I was too pooped and just wanted to plop on the couch! :D

Scott and I made it to MT yesterday and it wasn’t so bad.  Even though the building isn’t the warmest, once you get moving around you’re fine.  They added some extra carpet which is nice!  After class Scott and I had to run to the butcher’s to pick up some chicken for Rocky (40lb box).  And then we looked around at some other places to see if anything interested us for lunch.  I was craving veggies like crazy but no place really had just straight up veggie dishes that appealed to me.  Scott ended up getting sushi and I saw they had fried tofu so I got an order of that.  I’m trying to find a place that does fried tofu like The Japanese Oriental Restaurant because theirs was awesome!

We got home and seperated out the chicken into portions.  Cold work!  I was already cold from the ride home because the temp was frigid outside!  And then handling all that cold chicken didn’t help matters much. :p  I so wanted a big huge salad but salads are cold so I passed on that.  And we had no soup so that was out.

January 17th, 2009: Breakfast

Hi guys!  Wow is it cold!  Last night Scott and I watched some of the Pens game from Thursday.  We had another wee glass of red and snacked on these.

yummy chocolate

yummy chocolate

Dark chocolate chips.  YUM!  Just to sort of give some perspective on how wee our glasses of wine have been, a bottle of wine usually amounts to four regular glasses.  We each had a small glass Thursday night and then we each had two small glasses last night.  The bottle is still not kicked or even close to being kicked!  Tiny glasses! :p

I headed up to bed not much after 10pm and read for a little while.  It was pushing 11 when I got to the point I couldn’t stay up anymore so I called lights out.

It’s been so cold here that not only have we turned the heat up a degree, I’ve had to turn the heating blanket up as well because I had been getting cold at night!  Craziness!
