January 24th, 2009: Dinner

Hi guys!  Sorry this didn’t get posted last night but I seriously just needed to chill on the couch with my boys.  Yesterday seemed like it involved a lot of stuff but looking back it looks like we didn’t do much! :p

We got a new buffet that friends of ours were giving away.  It’s very nice and now we’ll be able to donate or sell the one we have that belonged to Scott’s grandparents.  That dining set is nice but not really our style.

I also made it to the running store to pick up my race packet and number!  Hooray!!  And then it was evening and Scott and I just chilled it for the rest of the night.  I didn’t even cook, thank you leftovers!

We had veggie pizza I reheated and also heated up some moz sticks.  We also split a honey porter which is a fantastic beer!  On my plate are two slices of pizza and three moz sticks.  I ate all of the pizza and only two moz sticks.

January 24th, 2009: Breakfast and lunch

Hi guys!  Did I scare you all with my crabby post? ;)

I went to be at 9:30 last night.  I was so tired and passing out on the couch.  I tried reading but the words were all blurry and moving around.  I took that as a sign I needed some sleep.  Rocky woke up in the middle of the night needing to go out. That was at 3am.  It took me a while to go back to sleep then he was up again at 7:30.  I was exhausted.  For me to feel any sort of refreshed I need uninterrupted sleep.  Choppy sleep makes me feel so much worse.  I took care of him and then debated on whether or not to stay up.  I finally realized that I was mentally and physically spent and needed more rest.  MT was out, I had no energy for that class today.  I went back to bed and got up for good at 9:30.  Still felt crappy but at least with slightly more sleep under my belt.

January 23rd, 2009: Dinner

Basically I’m trying to forget this day even existed.  There is a silver lining though which I will talk about tomorrow!  Right now, here’s my eats as basic as I can make it because I want to get back to the couch and wine.

Snacked on:

Some chips and salsa with a wee bit of red wine + club soda to make a fizzie red wine.  Totally awesome!

Dinner was some seafood risotto.  Comfort food for me.

Back to the couch!  Friday, what? I don’t remember Friday. ;)

January 23rd, 2009: Breakfast and Lunch

Hi guys, I am having one hell of a day today. Crikey.

Last night Scott and I finished the Pens game from last Friday and they won.  Hooray!  Then at 9:30ish I headed up to bed to read.  Not even 10:30 and I was ready for some sleepy sleep.  Good thing too because Rocky decided to get up at 5am today, depriving me of one more glorious hour of sleep.

I was not a happy camper this morning.  After I took care of him, he thought he was going back up to bed.  Oh no, kiddo.  You get mama up then we are all up and staying up.  After explaining that, he realized that his bed in the office next to mom was just fine and hey let’s just sleep there for a bit.  The space heater was on and I wrapped him all up in his fleece blankies so he was snug like a bug.

Website related things

Hi guys! We need to have a chitty-chat about the website.  Grab some coffee or whatever.  I’ll wait.

Okay, settled?  I wanted to run a few things past you and get some feedback on thoughts.  Will you help?  Awesome! :D

When I first had inklings of starting this blog it was to post recipes and maybe have some food related discussions and that was about the extent of it.  You all know I was introduced into the food blogging world and what an amazing experience that has been.  Because of that my site and ambition for the site has sort of changed.

I love my daily eats section.  I cannot even tell you how much I love talking about little random stuff about my day (which might be boring to some, but it’s a fun thing for me) and about exercise.  Love it!  And I want to bump that up a little more and start doing some fun things and adding in more fitness related discussion.  My heart lies with running and I want to talk about it more.

January 22nd, 2009: Dinner

Hi guys!  I was right, I had to have my afternoon snack a little early.  I read my book while I ate. :D

2% fage with bear naked banana nut and some cranberries.  So good!  While at the store we got a few extra things but no fage.  For some reason this store has been really bad about keeping fage in stock.  Boo.

Then it was off to MT conditioning class which kicked my hiney today.  Well, considering it’s been about a month or so since we’ve been, it’s no wonder.  I powered through though because I knew I was coming home to some pizza pizza!

Pizza Thursday!

Pizza Thursday!

Hooray Pizza Thursday!  I did not make the crust because I ran out of time today.  I used a WF crust that I pulled from the freezer.  It’s a mega veggie pizza.  Check it out:

  • Zucchini
  • Carrot

January 22nd, 2009: Breakfast and lunch

Hi guys!  Okay so class ran a little longer last night and by the time Scott and I were sitting down on the couch it was after 10pm which we all know is my normal heading-to-bed time.  Oh my.  Plus I was snacky so I pulled out some carby goodness in the shape of a fish.

Scott and I split some fishies while we watched a period of the Pens game from Friday.  Then I stumbled up to bed because I was soooo tired.  Oh man it was going on 11pm and I was amazed how wiped out I was!

Bright and early, 6am called and called pretty loudly to, dang it.  I got up and got Rocky taken care of and was so happy it was not frozen outside.  It felt balmy and warm.  When I came back in I checked the temp and it was 18F!  Hey, that’s better than 6F.

January 21st, 2009: Dinner

More bloggy work, regular work, and then business meeting with Scott work (yes we actually do have those!).  And then I looked online and about passed out.  There’s a house the next street over that is the same as ours and it is up for sale.  I looked it up online because I was curious to see what it was selling for and whoa that’s a lot of money.  And then I saw the inside and that’s when I passed out.  They redid the house and it looks amazing. Our house needs updated in a huge way but that’s expensive (even when you do it yourself) and takes time.

However, it’s a must for us because if we ever want to sell this house we have to update it.  Otherwise no one will buy it in its current condition. And yes that’s right, Scott and I want to move eventually (right now).  Our dream has always been to move more out west.  We want mountains and forests and outdoor activities and liberal-minded people!  Ultimately we would like a house with a good bit of land attached to it and neighbors that we cannot see or hear.  That is the dream, people.

January 21st, 2009: Breakfast and lunch

The inauguration coverage last night lasted a little longer than I thought and I ended up going to bed around 10:15.  Straight to bed, no reading first.  I was exhausted!  I had a wee sip more of wine, a fortune cookie (best we’ve had yet!), and a nibble of peppermint bark.  Really nothing that much but I’m passing along the info anyway. :D

I was up at 5:30 this morning. :o  Crikey!  I laid in bed till 6am though because I had no desire to leave the warm comfy bed.  I got Rocky taken care of and then realized my oat pot still needed washed.  At 6 in the morning I have no desire to do dishes, so I settled for some yogurt.

Which isn’t really settling because I love it.  2% fage with some bare naked banana nut and some cranberries along with morning coffee.  The coffee this morning was just okay, I think I only had about 1/2 the mug.  I did some bloggy stuff and some email stuff, and then it was finally time for a run!

Review: New Holland Brewing Company Cabin Fever Brown Ale

New Holland Brewing Company Cabin Fever

New Holland Brewing Company Cabin Fever

Dark, complex, and a little bit moody is how I prefer them.

The darker the better.  Not too complex otherwise you’ll just be left confused and unsatisfied which doesn’t do you any good.  Moody because it needs to melt with you and fit your current emotion like a glove.  A support system of sorts.

I’m talking about beers, not dudes!  A complex and moody dude would just get on my nerves actually and I would end up kicking him to the curb.  But beer?  Oh yes it must be complex, requiring me to spend time figuring out it’s good to me or not.

Hello Cabin Fever! You will not get kicked to the curb!

This beer meets all my criteria for an awesome beer.  Check out that color!  The first time I poured this beer into a glass I was blown away by its very dark and rich coloring.  It almost looks like dark chocolate or perhaps a really strong coffee.  I was nervous tasting it because the color reminded me of a Black&Tan (or Guinness), and in my opinion those beers are thick and syrupy, which is not a pleasant drinking experience for me.  Who wants to drink syrup?  This beer is most certainly not that way.  That’s not to say it’s a “light” beer; this is a hardy beer with a very strong presence.  But the carbonation is perfect and keeps the beer from becoming a heavy syrup mess in a glass (sorry Black&Tan and Guinness lovers! (not really)).
