January 7th, 2009: Breakfast and Lunch

Hi guys!  Last night after posting it was around 9:30ish and I was pooped.  Scott was talking with his parents and Rocky had already gone upstairs to get snuggled in bed.  I decided he had the right idea and went up to join him.  I stayed there the rest of the night!  I read until about 10:30 and decided it was time for lights out.

My alarm went off at 7am and as soon as Rocky heard it he jumped out of bed.  However I wasn’t moving as quickly so he went back in his bed and got snug.  It took me about 5 minutes but eventually I got myself up and moving.  I was surprised how dark it was outside.  I figured the sun would be starting to come out and making an appearance.

It was cold and snow/raining a little bit when I took Rock out for his potty run.  I was hoping it wouldn’t be too bad because I was totally going out for a run today despite the weather.

Breakfast this morning was 2% fage with some bear naked blueberry granola and some cranberries on top.  I was looking forward to it!  The bananas I bought yesterday were still too green to use for oats.  I didn’t get to have yogurt yesterday since I ate a late lunch and I missed it so!  Today’s breakfast hit the spot.  Along with coffee + creamer.

I read blogs for a while and then it was time to get my butt moving.  There was a small part of me that wanted to stay in my jammies and snug in the house.  But I knew that wouldn’t be a good idea and I can’t let that part creep back in.  I reminded myself how much I love being outside and how good running is for me as I went up to change into my running clothes.

I was a little worried about my right knee today.  I think I over extended it a bit last night at MT as I was doing a kick and it’s a little stiff and sore today.  On my run it was fine but afterward it was back to being stiff and sore.

I did an easy 3 miles.  My plan is to work up to the 10K distance and once I hit that and am comfortable running that long, then start working on speed and strength exercises.

When I got home, I had a bit of CS then I went upstairs to wake Scott up.  He kept his promise of being in bed by 1:30am, now let’s see if he can keep this routine going strong. That’s the real test. ;)

I grabbed Rocks and we were back out the door for a quick 2 mile walk.  Ew it got nasty outside.  More rain/snow plus some wind made for not the greatest walking conditions.  Once back home I hit the shower.  After my shower I did my first session of Yogadownload.com and loved it!

I’ve given up on my Wii Fit, I just don’t care for it very much.  But I know I still need to stretch after runs especially if I’m even thinking about doing a 1/2 this year.  I like the idea of yoga and I know I just cannot stretch on my own.  I won’t hold the stretches for long enough and I won’t do proper ones.  Or I just won’t stretch at all.  These session from Yogadownload are awesome!  First of all the 20minute ones are free which allows you to sample and try things out to see if you like it.  You can print out a copy of the poses and since the sessions are in MP3 format you literally can take them and do them anywhere.

It was a little earthy crunchy, very “feel the earth’s power” and so on.  But I didn’t even focus on that instead focusing on stretching my muscles.  It was awesome!  I’m definitley getting some more sessions, especially since they have a yoga for runners session.

After my yoga stretch, I did some work and some blog stuff and then it was time for lunch.  While I was doing the other stuff, I did have the other 1/2 Zbar from yesterday.  I was a little hungry after yoga but didn’t need anything major.

I was especially looking forward to lunch!  Something new today, Amy’s butternut squash soup.

Scott and I split the soup and it was the perfect amount.  I heated it up and added some chili powder and some red pepper flakes to the soup.  And a wee dash of garlic powder.  I also had a morningstar chick patty on lightly toasted sandwich thin with romaine and a lil smidge of olive oil mayo.  In the middle are two clems.  Everything was so good and hit the spot!  I am in love with the sandwich thins and need to get some more stat.

The soup actually was a little too spicy for me! :o  I decided to try something new again and add a small scoop of fage to the soup.

I was hoping it would add some creaminess to the soup and help cut the heat a bit.  It worked and it was amazing in the soup.  This is the best premade butternut soup I have ever had.  I’m not big on Pacific brand stuff because they tend to use a lot of rice flour and rice milk in their products which is not something I’m fond of.  Actually rice products (other than straight up rice) tend to make me gag to the point I have to spit out whatever it is I’m eating.  My first experience with rice milk was not a pleasant one.  Amy’s soup was straight up awesome and I would totally buy it again.

Now I’m off to get some more work done and do some things around the house.  Catch ya later!

  1. Oooh! I love fage in soups. So yummy! And thanks for always writing about CS b/c I finally tried it the other day and I’m hooked! BTW, after my last e-mail I got to thinking about trying out blogging and I’ve been “testing it out” before I told anyone about it, but I think I’m past the trial stage now so check it out if you get a chance and THANK YOU b/c just asking me whether I had a blog made me rethink blogging.
