January 23rd, 2009: Breakfast and Lunch

Hi guys, I am having one hell of a day today. Crikey.

Last night Scott and I finished the Pens game from last Friday and they won.  Hooray!  Then at 9:30ish I headed up to bed to read.  Not even 10:30 and I was ready for some sleepy sleep.  Good thing too because Rocky decided to get up at 5am today, depriving me of one more glorious hour of sleep.

I was not a happy camper this morning.  After I took care of him, he thought he was going back up to bed.  Oh no, kiddo.  You get mama up then we are all up and staying up.  After explaining that, he realized that his bed in the office next to mom was just fine and hey let’s just sleep there for a bit.  The space heater was on and I wrapped him all up in his fleece blankies so he was snug like a bug.

I read blogs for a bit and checked email.  Finally I stopped getting Facebook notices! Last night some chick named Amanda was trying to sign up for Facebook but kept entering in the wrong email address.  She entered one of mine instead.  So most of the evening I kept getting FB confirmation emails.  I’m sorry to sound grouchy but seriously, you can’t get your own email right after multiple tries? Lame.  Either she figured it out or stopped trying because I haven’t gotten anymore.  And then, at this same address, I kept getting emails from this kid who wrote all his emails in caps and used exclamation marks like it was his job.  I finally wrote him and told him he was writing to the wrong person and had the wrong email.  He wrote back that HE WAS SO VERY VERY SORRY!!!!

And then today he writes again and expresses his love and how much he MISSES ME!!!! *faceplant*  Some people are not meant to have computer access.  I labeled him as spam and moved on.

I got some coffee and breakfast because I eventually caught some hungry.  And the coffee was finally at a nice steaming hot level.

I had 2% fage with some bear naked banana nut.  I just remembered I could have had some cranberries too!  Doh!  I am determined to turn this Friday around guys!  Today is supposed to be another warm day.  Yesterday we got up to 39F; that is summertime compared to what we were having.  And today is supposed to also be warm, however, we are supposed to get rain.  And I have a feeling we will see rain because when I was out with Rocky it felt like rain was on the way.

Location, Location, Location!

Thank you guys so much for your feedback on our future move!  We pretty much know it’s going to be west we just don’t know where yet.  For as long as I can remember that is always where I wanted to go.  I have this weird sort of pull that is telling me I need to go there.  Scott, being an Air Force Brat, has lived out that way.  He has not lived in Colorado or the PacWest but he also has this need to go back west.  It’s something that we share and something that sort of bonded us when we started dating and talking about our “dreams”.  I realize how sappy that sounds but you do honestly talk about dreams and what you want out of your future when you start getting serious with someone.  It happens.

I would love to visit the NE sometime but that’s about as far as that goes.  I’ve lived in NC already, although not as far west as Asheville.  We were in Cary and then moved to Raleigh for a short time.

I dunno about California guys, I need some good winter-like weather because I thrive in it.  I’m not sure if I could handle 70degree days in Dec and Jan. :p

Our plan for moving, whenever it gets to that point and we find a place to go (although not looking forward to that drive!) is to rent.  I am not buying a house again until I find my home and can find the perfect location.  We both know what we want and the #1 thing is land.  I do not want to see or hear neighbors or a busy street.  When I look out my windows, door, or sitting on my porch I want to see mountains and trees.  I want a big long winding driveway that leads up to my house. And rinky-dink truck with a plow so Scott can plow the driveway if needed. :p  But we have to find home because we have yet to find that location.

We’ve been happy enough here in Ohio and it’s been one of the better places, for us, that we have lived.  But it’s not permanent and we realize this.  Both of us are getting itchy to move.  Plus we would love a place that is also more tech-friendly!  People of the same mind, so to speak.  Lots to think about!

More eats!

Finally it was time for me to think about heading out for a run.  I was debating it only because yesterday was so warm and today is already warm, but the snow isn’t all melted.  Instead it is all just a bunch of mush.  Some streets don’t have snow on them but the side streets are just packed down snow because they didn’t get plowed.  Running on that might not be fun.  I finally decided that if I was going to run, I was cleaning the house first because I knew that I was not going to want to clean it when I got back home.  I whipped around the house cleaning the kitchen and bathrooms.  Then I had 1/2 a spooky s’mores Zbar because I was hungry.

And wanted a little fuel before my run.  I changed and since it was so warm today, I only needed one pair of pants and my hoodie.  I was out and about and immediately I knew that I did not have it in me for a run.  Today was probably the worst run I’ve had.  My body just did not want to go plus I was tired and cranky.  I made myself do at least 2.5 miles because if I’m out I should do something.  And 2.5 is better than sitting on my butt so I’m okay with the miles just not the run overall.

Once home I had some CS and then talked to Scott for a minute before heading up to shower.  While I was talking to him I smelled something really awful.  I looked at Rocky knowing it was him.  When he was in the office with me earlier this morning, I petted him quickly before I went up to wake Scott.  When I went over to pet him, uh it smelled!  But I didn’t think twice about it because I just figured he farted and it was trapped in the blanket with him.  Well when I smelled him later I knew that he had something smelly on him.

Before my shower, I quickly rubbed him down with a washcloth + doggie shampoo, then rinsed him off thinking this should be fine.  But afterwards Scott and I still smelled this smell.  I can’t even explain it but it’s gross.  Like rotten almost.  After my shower I went to check Rocky who was laying on our bed and I still smelled it.  I rolled him over and on his belly was this black stuff which was the culprit.  I grabbed the washcloth and started wiping and this stuff wasn’t coming off.  I put some shampoo on it and wiped again and it only came off a little but not much at all.  Since this is his belly area, the fur is minimal down there, so this stuff is on his skin.

I could not get it off.  Quick internet search said baby oil or rubbing alcohol to help remove sticky residue from skin.  Well we don’t have baby oil and I don’t even know where I could get some babies so I could make some.  I did apply some vaseline to see if that would help.  No.  Okay moving on, more searching said peanut butter because of the oil; it helps break down sticky stuff.  I decided to cut out the middle man and went straight to peanut oil.  I rubbed that on him and let it sit.  Now I don’t have rubbing alcohol but I have alcohol.  Hi Vodka, why don’t you come help us out.

Alternating between peanut oil and vodka is what my day consisted of.  And this stupid stuff is not coming off.  ARGH!  It stinks which means I’m smelling it constantly.  And it also means Rocky can’t get on the furniture or his beds.  I’m at a loss.  I have no idea what to do at this point or how to get this stuff off his skin.  And I have no idea what it is or how he got it.  He’s never out of our sight, not even when he’s outside for a potty run.  We are out there with him.

A. DAY.

Somewhere in there I did have lunch.  As I was making lunch I snacked on some raisins because I was hungry.  Lunch was a sammie.

His & Hers

I’ve seen so many veggie subs around the blogsphere I needed to have one.

I cut both of the subs into thirds and I had 1/3 for lunch.  My sub had:

  • Spinach
  • Romaine
  • Tomatoes
  • Cucumbers
  • Green pepper
  • Red Onion
  • Banana peppers

And veganaise, which is okay.  I also had some BBQ baked chips and in the middle is one huge orange and a clem which I had several pieces of.

Now I am off to try and figure out what to do about my dog.  MEH.

I will turn this day around!  If you need me I’ll be in the closet with the vodka and peanut oil.  Knock three times so I know it’s you.

  1. Yay how exciting! I eventually want to move to CA or CO, but if CA I was thinking more toward the North. I want to live somewhere colder than NC, but not too cold so I can run year round. Sorry, but I’m definately more of a wimp than you when it comes to cold weather and I used to live in VT! LOL! Hey, how about a vacation for you 2 to visit some areas out west? I went to Estes Park in CO and it was one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been, but it was mostly a vacation area, since there weren’t a lot of jobs out there.
