January 21st, 2009: Breakfast and lunch

The inauguration coverage last night lasted a little longer than I thought and I ended up going to bed around 10:15.  Straight to bed, no reading first.  I was exhausted!  I had a wee sip more of wine, a fortune cookie (best we’ve had yet!), and a nibble of peppermint bark.  Really nothing that much but I’m passing along the info anyway. :D

I was up at 5:30 this morning. :o  Crikey!  I laid in bed till 6am though because I had no desire to leave the warm comfy bed.  I got Rocky taken care of and then realized my oat pot still needed washed.  At 6 in the morning I have no desire to do dishes, so I settled for some yogurt.

Which isn’t really settling because I love it.  2% fage with some bare naked banana nut and some cranberries along with morning coffee.  The coffee this morning was just okay, I think I only had about 1/2 the mug.  I did some bloggy stuff and some email stuff, and then it was finally time for a run!

Single digits again (I think it was 6F this morning) and everything frosted over.  I got to run my old normal route because the construction guys are still MIA.  I did the 4.5 mile loop and the excitement came when some minivan lady almost ran me over.  Awesome.  It’s a long story when explaining it verbally so breaking it down, we were both coming towards each other.  She only had to scoot over a bit to make room for me to run past.  She did not want to move. I was in a position where my option for avoidance was pretty much jumping into a waist-high pile of plowed snow.  I kept waiting for her to move and when I realized she wasn’t going to I was about to head into the snow when she finally moved over.  At the last minute.  *grumble*  Near collision though.  She got angry with me and I just gave her the hairy eyeball and kept on with my run.

I got home and Scott called me “frosty face” because my eyelashes and probably eyebrows were all frosted over.  So were my gloves, worse than yesterday!  We must have a lot of moisture in the air or something for everything to be so frosty white.

I changed and did my 20 min of yoga and hit the shower.  It was okay till I ran out of hot water.  I hate when that happens.  In the summer we have plenty of hot hot water, in the winter not so much.  So weird.  When I came downstairs I decided to have a cup of tea.  I was a little chilled and also needed a small snack.

I had some honey vanilla white chai tea that I also added some orange peel to while it steeped.  Sweetened with some agave and a side of raisins.  Having tea after my run was so nice and calming!  I may start to do this more often although I’m not sure if I will stop once the winter is over.

More bloggy stuff, work stuff, and office cleaning stuff and then it was time for some lunch.  Today is leftover day. :p

Remember yesterday’s wrap?  Well there was still some of the mixture leftover (tuna and sweet&spicy coleslaw) so I had that with spinach in a bowl instead of a wrap.  On the side was broccoli from my veggie dish and Scott’s hunan chicken dish.  In the middle are two of the eggrolls and an orange.  I ate all of the tuna mixture, both eggrolls, and the orange!  Only about 3 bites of the broccoli because it was crazy hot after sitting in the fridge overnight.  I could only handle so much heat so I didn’t eat much of it.

After lunch and cleanup it was time to take Rocky for a walk.  It’s still cold outside so he has to wear his booties which I think he’s getting tired of.  It’s so cold and there’s still way too much snow around for him to go on walks without them.

Now I’m off to get some work done both in the office and around the house.  See you for dinner!

  1. OMG, crazy drivers suck. So glad you weren’t hit. Thankfully you were running as you’re supposed to (against the traffic) and weren’t surprised by a van nearly running you over from behind.

Wow, super frosty and cold! Can’t believe you got out there to run in such chilly weather. Rock on with your hard working self!
