December 21st, 2008: Lunch and dinner

Hi guys!  I’m going to try to make this quick because it’s cold in the office!  After posting I headed to the kitchen and made Sunday breakfast.  Then I put that in the oven to stay warm while I made some cranberry sauce and also cleaned up the kitchen.  It wasn’t long before Scott got up and so he helped me with the dishes. :D  Then I headed up for a quick shower.  It wasn’t as hot as I would have liked but it did the job well enough.

Coming back down stairs to a clean kitchen and being able to dig right into Sunday breakfast was awesome! I am so doing this from now on.  Just make it early and keep warm.

Sunday Breakfast

We had cranberry waffles (made with WW pastry flour) and some maple sausage on the side.  YUM!

After lunch I got busy trying to clean out this office and the office upstairs.  Ugh!  Not done but at least I made a dent.  I also sent out some invoices for work I did.  Then Scott and I took a break to brave the cold and take Rocky for a walk.  We only did a short one because the weather was crazy cold outside and the wind would not quit.  It was fierce!  When we got back I checked the temp and it was colder than when I ran earlier. :o  It was 17F RealFeel 7.  Oh my!  Tonight it is supposed to be 5F with a RealFeel of -23F.  Crikey!  That is some serious cold for this area.

December 21st, 2008: Morning

Good morning!  Happy 21st of December!  We are in the final stretches now, hooray! :woohoo:

brrrr

brrrr

I was freezing cold last night as we watched TV.  Our family room sort of sits off by itself and it only has three walls.  Two of them face outside and the third one backs the garage, so it’s basically is an icebox.  We turned on the gas fireplace last night for a bit.  The first time this winter!  I love my little gas fireplace.  I know that it isn’t the same as a real wood burning one, but I will take gas over that every time.  Why?  Because Scott and I used to live in Raleigh, NC and the first winter in our new house, NC got hit with a severe ice storm.  The whole state was covered in ice and we didn’t have power.  Since our water was well water, no power meant no running water either.  Everything in the house was electric.  And we had a wood-burning fireplace.  We couldn’t find any wood except for those Duralog things, that you light and they stay lit for however many hours.  Yeah those don’t give off a lot of heat but that’s all we had.  So us, Rocks, and our kitty all bundled up and stayed around the fireplace.  For five days.  It was cold and it sucked like you couldn’t believe.  The upside to it being winter is we didn’t have to worry about losing any food.  But I’ll never be without gas again.  Gas fireplace and gas stove always and forever. Amen.

December 20th, 2008: Lunch and dinner

Quickie post guys because I’m ready to hang on the couch with my boys!  I’m wiped out. :thud:

boring..

boring..

I finally got hungry and had a small bit of Fage with some bear naked banana nut.  YUM!  I ate that while watching Rachael Ray make some monster T-bones for a holiday dinner.  Holy cow those must be some damn good friends if they are serving you up a T-bone.  I’m not sure what I would do if that happened to me.  I clearly cannot eat a whole T-bone by myself.  Would it be rude to ask for a baggie?

Went to MT today and you can tell it’s the holidays because class size is starting to twindle.  After MT we ran some errands and then it was back home for lunch!  I was starving!

pizza pizzazz

We had leftover pizza (extra buffalo sauce on mine) and in the middle is 1 clemmie and 1 orange.  I had two of the slices of pizza and 1/2 a clem and 1/2 the orange.  I am loving the oranges this season, they have been so juicy and sweet!

December 20th, 2008: Morning

Hi guys!  YaY we have reached the 20s of December which means Christmas is just around the corner.  Whee! :swingdance:

My morning has been very non-eventful, let me tell you.  So far I’ve had coffee.

morning coffee

And that’s as far as I got.  I wasn’t hungry when I woke up and I’m still not hungry just yet, so I haven’t eaten anything.  My morning consisted of taking care of Rocks and feeding my little birdies outside. :D  Now I’m off to put away the dishes in the dishwasher and cleanup the dishes from last night’s dinner.

Today is a working day!  I hope to go to MT, run some quick errands afterward, and then come home and maybe do some yard work.  Hope you all are having a great weekend so far and if you’re on holidays, hooray!

December 19th, 2008: Lunch and dinner

Hi guys!  Yesterday was such a busy day that by the time I finally got to sit down it was going on 9pm and I was pooped!  So I didn’t get the post up.

Before lunch I cleaned the house and then made three different kinds of bark.  I licked the spoon after each one before washing everything off!  YUM!  My fave is a dark chocolate one that I made for the first time.  I needed to eat but wasn’t super hungry thanks to the chocolate so I kept lunch simple.

yummy soup

We still had a bit of leftover veggie chili and it was too good for me to throw it away.  However, there wasn’t enough for each of us to have some, so I added it to one can of southwest veggie soup and it worked out well!  In the middle is an orange.  I had most of my soup but not all of it and half the orange.  I was stuffed!

December 19th, 2008: Breakfast

Hi guys!  I had such a great day yesterday, I hope today can be the same!  Yesterday I got stuff done around the house, bloggy stuff, business stuff, and I had two awesome workouts.  By the end of the night I felt amazing! :D  I did have another glass of red, same size as the first, while watching the Pens but did not have any ice cream.  The pizza really super filled me up and I didn’t need ice cream on top of it, so I passed.  I was in bed by 11pm and was out.  I did wake up a few times last night but not enough that it disturbed my sleep.  One of the times I woke up, I heard it pouring rain and knew it still would be raining in the morning so I decided just to sleep till whenever.

I got up at 8am and it was crazy raining outside.  I wasn’t looking forward to taking Rocky out and knew it was going to be a challenge.  See, Rocky hates rain because the water droplets of death fall on him and touch his butt!  Light rain he can tolerate for a small bit but big huge droplets or monsoon rain he cannot.  I put his big boy jacket on and let’s just say it was a challenge getting him out the door and down the deck stairs.  He finally peed and came running back.  My big boy is such a wuss sometimes. :p  I literally was out for maybe a minute and a half and was soaked!  That’s how crazy it was raining.  Uh, I guess running is out for today.  Boo!  Instead I went through and plugged in all the xmas lights and lit candles.  Much more cozy!

December 18th, 2008: Lunch and dinner

Hi guys!  I’ve been busy busy today.  I did some bloggy stuff and then dusted, vacuumed, and swiffered the house.  Swiffering is such a frustrating thing because the floor always seems to have stuff on it.  I’ll be done and the minute I turn back around there is stuff on the floor.  Meh.  Aside from that everything went smoothly!

I was starving for lunch but Scott said he wasn’t ready yet, so I had this.

pre-lunch

pre-lunch

A cut up apple, some raisins, and a brazil nut (cut in 1/2).  I ate the nut and all of the apple and only a few raisins.  I did some more things around the house and finally stated that I was making lunch because I was starving! :p

lunch lunch

lunch lunch

Leftover veggie chili for lunch and I also had three of the tortilla chips in the middle.  YUM!  After lunch I took Rocky out for his walk and thankfully it warmed up enough that the majority of the ice was melted and gone.  Hooray!  Once back home I did some laundry and more cleaning.  Then my packages arrived!  Now I only have two more left, one should be coming tomorrow and the other one next week I think.  It’s coming by regular mail so I hope it gets here in time.  The mail has been super duper slow here.  I still have packages to send out so I know those won’t arrive by Christmas.  And I still have to send out Christmas cards!  Yes I am so behind!

December 18th, 2008: Morning

go fish

go fish

Good morning guys!  I had a new snack last night while we watched TV.  Whole grain fishies!  Along with some peppermint tea.  I have to say that my first taste of them, I wasn’t too impressed.  They didn’t quite have the salty umph of regular fishies and that’s what I was looking for.  I’m craving salt at the moment. ;)  But they grew on me and now I really like them!  I did not wrap presents, boo on me!  I decided to wait until the rest of my packages arrive, which is today and tomorrow, then I’ll wrap them.

I hit the hay around 10:30pm and read for a bit.  Then it was lights out by 11pm.  Brisingr isn’t really thrilling me too much at the moment.  I know it’s a YA book, but it seems written as simply as possible.

So much for my plans to get up early this morning, it was 10 of 8am again when I crawled out of bed.  I got Rocks taken care of and the deck was still covered with ice.  Grrr!  While I was out with him, I heard the bus go by so I knew school was on a normal schedule this morning, which means the roads must be alright.

December 17th, 2008: Lunch and dinner

Hi guys!  I flip-flopped so much about whether to go running or not.  The weather is so weird that it has thrown me for a loop!  I was taking so long to make a decision it was lunch time and I was hungry.

messy wrap...

messy wrap…

Only a semi-veggie day today because ever since I pulled the turkey out of the freezer, I have been dreaming of using it in a wrap!  So that’s what I did today, a nice turkey wrap with romaine and salsa.  Oh so yum!  Because my wrap is huge I knew I didn’t need much else in the way of lunch, so on the side is some clemmies.  I had almost all of my wrap and 1 clem.

After lunch and cleanup, I decided I would take Rocky for his walk and test the waters that way.  Oh it was slippery in some spots and fine in others.  I did okay walking but we took it super slow.  Only one time where I almost bit it, otherwise everything was cool.  But oh so cold!  Because we’ve had rain and then ice and then it’s been going back and forth between the two, it is extremely damp outside.  Add in the cold and you get a recipe for the type of cold that no matter how many layers you have on, you feel it because it goes right through you down to your bones.  BRRR!

Review: True North Almond Cranberry Vanilla Clusters

Almond Cranberry Vanilla Clusters

Almond Cranberry Vanilla Clusters

Let me introduce you to my new crack.  Daily Eats readers have seen these bad boys pop up every now and again and know full well that I love them and am addicted to them.

I’ve spied the True North items here and there in the grocery store but in all honesty the flavors listed didn’t really appeal to me so I passed them all up.  However one fateful trip to Sam’s and I saw this ginormous bag of Almond Cranberry Vanilla Clusters (say that five times fast!), now that flavor appealed to me!

It wasn’t long after we got back home that I tore open the bag and dove in.  As soon as the bag was open I was hit by the smell.  It was a very sweet enticing scent.  Not something that came across as fake or processed.  We’ve all smelled fake vanilla and it doesn’t smell pretty.  I was very pleased by the size of the little square clusters, perfect for quick snacking and easy to portion out.  I ate one and was in heaven.  It was so good!  And then I proceeded to eat a bunch more because I couldn’t stop.
