October 21st, 2008: Morning

Morning guys! Last night after SF class, I had the munchies. Now I was legitimately hungry but also had a huge salt craving. Last night ended up being a junk food night.

While we started the Pens game I put out some munchies. One sliced apple, some roasted red pepper hummus, Triscuits, and some of the FoodShouldTasteGood chips. I also had one Summer Ale. I was actually feeling pretty good with myself and not feeling guilty at all for my snack. Beer aside, my munchies were actually very healthy. Can’t go wrong with an apple! Hummus is good for you, the FoodShouldTasteGood chips are good for you, and well, the Triscuits aren’t the best but better than chips. I won’t buy any more when this current box is finished. Last night they were perfectly salty and hit the spot! I ate most of the apple, I don’t even know if Scott had any, and a handful of triscuits + hummus and a few (4?) of the other chips. And yes we shared that basket of snacks, that wasn’t all mine! :p

We watched the first period of the game and then it was time for me to head to bed. I was in bed around 11:15 and out like a light.

I got up this morning with my alarm and dragged my punk butt out of bed. I got changed and figured that I most definitely would need my hat this morning. I bought some earmuffs yesterday, the kind that wrap around the back of your head, but I don’t think they are tight enough, so I didn’t bother trying those out today.

When I took Rocky out for his potty run after breakfast, it was cold! Whew! Probably the coldest morning yet. After he came back inside it was time for me to hit the pavement.

I did the 2-mile run today at a nice pace but that’s after trying to do a sprint. I started the sprint and my legs did not want to go that fast or that hard. I stopped only after a few seconds wondering what the deal was. Then I remembered that I worked quads yesterday at PT. Duh, no wonder my legs were protesting! I granted their wish and kept a nice pace. I didn’t get my HR in the 160s much but did keep it at a steady 158 which was good.

After the run, I drank my CS and probably could have drank more but opted not to. I grabbed Rocks and we were out the door into the chilly cold. I still had my hat on and tossed on an extra sweatshirt but could have used something heavier. And probably a pair of thin gloves, it was that chilly.

Oats!

Oats!

After his walk I changed into recovery clothes and fired up the Wii Fit. I did 15 minutes of yoga stretches and decided that was plenty of stretching. It was time for breakfast. Finally some oats! I could not wait to have a nice bowl of oats this morning, it feels like forever since I had some. Well 3 days is a long time without oats! Standard oat mix:

  • 1 smashed banana
  • 3/4 C of vanilla soymilk
  • 1/2 C of quick oats
  • pinch of salt and cinnamon
  • 1/4 C of homemade granola
  • 1 big spoonful of dark chocolate PB

Keep in mind of the total amount of oats made, I only eat about 3/4 of it, the rest is for Scott when he wakes up in the morning. :D

Breakfast

I had that alongside coffee + creamer and I remembered to only do 1/2 a cup this morning. It was perfect! I felt like I still got my coffee indulgence without drinking too much or wasting some.

I’m off to a good start getting things accomplished today. The two loads of laundry I did yesterday are folded and put away. Another load is currently in the wash and the bed has been stripped, sprayed with freshener, and is waiting for new sheets. Now I’m off to get started on the other things that need done! See you later!
