September 19th, 2008: Breakfast

Morning guys! Happy Friday! I woke up before my alarm today. Not too much before since I went to bed later than normal, curse you second epi of HH drawing me in. Wow it was chilly this morning! I wore my thermal the entire run. My run was only okay because my HRM wasn’t working right. I don’t know if I didn’t wet it enough or what but it wasn’t registering my HR. At one point it had me at 77. After my run it said I only burned 71 calories. :irked:

I felt like I worked really hard during my run though, despite the HRM being wonky. So I was pretty thirsty when I got back. Still in my thermal, I grabbed Rocks and we were out the door. Some people were getting their lawns treated today and I always get a bit irritated about that. Typically there are little signs put up in the yards warning that the lawn has been treated and to keep pets and kids off of it for 24 hours. Which is fine and I do that. However, along with spray chemicals, they put down fertilizer or something else thats shaped like wee pellets. And these pellets are all over the place including the sidewalk. Not everyone gets the pellets and you don’t realize they are there until you are right up on them. *grumble* I have to be extra careful and try to keep Rocky off those which means we have to walk in the street.

While at the store yesterday I came across this. I have seen some other bloggers eat this brand of granola, and since it was chocolate I decided to give it a try. I had one piece as I was making my oats this morning. It was pretty yummy.

I am still in major chocolate craving mode so I made chocolate oats this morning.

  • 1C of Choco. Soymilk
  • 1/2 C of quick oats
  • 1 mashed banana

Cooked all those together and put half in my bowl. I topped it with some of the chocolate granola, coconut, two spoonfuls of yogurt, and some chocolate chips.

The coffee this morning was coconut which went perfectly with my oats. That was a nice surprise! Scott makes the coffee at night after I’m in bed, so I don’t know what I’ll wake up to in the mornings. The oats were sooooo chocolatey! Very satisfying for when one has a major chocolate craving. And they were filling too. Normally, this would be about the time I would be getting hungry for lunch or a snack (11:30ish am) but so far I’m good.

I’ve got a lot to do today and I am dubbing it Domestic Day! I need to clean the house and get all the produce I bought washed. I also need to make more granola now that I have more oats and do some other cooking things. I guess I better get moving!
